Established in Pocurna, Jaén, a small oil mill was run by Luis Torres Torres, the grandfather of the current manager of Aceites Maeva.
This was an industrial oil press which produced “Santo Rostro” olive oil, meeting the needs of the surrounding area. Its success led to new expansion outside of Andalusia.
COMMERCIAL INTEREST IN INTRODUCING A PRODUCT FROM OUR LAND
This is what led Juan Francisco Torres Morente, the son of the founder, to open a small oil firm with the traditional hand press in the centre of Madrid.
Located in Calle del Sombrerete, in the Lavapiés quarter, “Aceites Santo Rostro Puro de Oliva de Cosechero a Consumidor” was found. This establishment had long queues of people seeking its prized olive oil, also due to the new Cabinet law authorising free pricing of oil.
This year was a turning point in the history of the company which, due to the great acceptance of its oil, returned to Andalusia, led by Juan Francisco Torres Morente.
A plant was opened in Albolote (Granada), incorporating the packaging and pressing process, for the first time under the Torres-Morente name.
INCORPORATION OF THE THIRD GENERATION
At this time, Amalia and Luis Torres-Morente Concha, the grandchildren of founder, played a role, providing human capital to this great family business.
Luis Torres-Morente Concha became the current manager of the company, paving the way for international trade.
New packaging emerged such as the revolutionary spray format and its “Bag on Valve” system, which respects the characteristics of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, as it is packaged under pressure without gas or CFCs.
The careful design, quality of the product, and the materials used have allowed the product to become more prominent, year after year, increasing in variety. Today we have Ecological Extra Virgin Olive Oil, flavoured with Chili, Provençal Herbs, Garlic, Pesto and Parmesan, as well as the original Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar.
INVESTEMENT AND NEW FACILITIES
In 2009, new facilities were opened in the Escúzar Metropolitan, Industrial and Technological Park (Granada), with the most modern technology in existence in the market for selecting, milling and transforming the olive into oil, with a milling capacity of over 50,000 tonnes per year.
Furthermore, new subsidiaries were opened in France, Mexico, USA and China, expanding our borders even further and covering demand at a global level.
